Beyond the fair week — the warehouses, foundations and permanent collections that keep working the other fifty-one weeks of the year.
Dubai's art calendar has a gravitational centre in March, and the rest of the year is quietly more interesting. The commercial galleries clustered in the industrial quarter run full exhibition programmes; the foundations do the research work that fairs draw on.
Saturday afternoons are the reliable window — most spaces open, few crowds, and enough galleries within walking distance of each other that you can see eight shows without moving your car.
